Development

The Sewer Science curriculum began in 1997 through a collaboration between the City of Palo Alto's Regional Water Quality Control Plant (RWQCP), San Jose State University, and Menlo-Atherton High School, Menlo Park, CA. First tested at Menlo-Atherton High School, the lab has been piloted in more than 50 classrooms with 15 teachers, reaching more than 1,500 students in the San Francisco Bay Area. Development and support funding has been provided by the RWQCP, South Bayside System Authority, Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, Community Foundation of Silicon Valley, and the California Department of Education.

Join the Sewer Science YahooGroup, a forum for teachers and agency staff active in Sewer Science. This is your place to ask questions; compare ideas; submit supplemental activities; and share surveys, tests, and quizzes.
